Vegan Volunteer Vacations

Hey Vegan World Trekkers!

Did you know that vegetarian/vegan travel agencies offer volunteer vacations for those who wish to help animals in need of care? Both Veg Voyages and Green Earth Travel offer such holidays! Volunteer opportunities exist both domestically and internationally.  Travelers assist with the care of injured animals. What better way to spend some of your vacation time than helping animals in need?!

Green Earth Travel offers trips to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in either Grand Canyon National Park or Zion National Park. Best Friends is the largest sanctuary for injured or abused animals. Volunteers may feed, groom, or  walk the cats, dogs, birds, horses, pigs, or rabbits that reside there. The animals are taken care of well, until a permanent home is found for them.

Volunteers are given morning and afternoon tasks and may even bring a cat or dog back to their cottage in the evening. The guests are offered vegetarian or vegan meals for breakfast, lunch break and dinner at the sanctuary itself and at local restaurants. These volunteer vacations also include breathtaking sightseeing of the canyons!

Veg Voyages offers vegetarian and vegan vacations to India, Laos, Thailand, and Malaysia. The Malaysian adventure gives participants the opportunity to volunteer at a turtle sanctuary. Volunteers eat their meals at local vegan-friendly restaurants or food stalls. Animal Aid In India provides care for abandoned, abused, and neglected mammals and birds. Volunteers dine on vegan meals at local restaurants, at a local palace, and at the homes of local people. Sightseeing, cooking lessons, and dance performances round off the remainder of the trip.

These volunteer vacations are a great way of giving a little of your time to care for some adorable animals who need loving care!
