Maria’s Advice – World Beverages

Hello My Fellow Vegan World Travelers!
Today’s travel tip will be regarding popular beverages that you may find in various countries. I, myself am a tea drinker and a consumer of fruit juices. I enjoy green, white, and all kinds of herbal teas. I enjoy many exotic fruit juices such as mango, passionfruit, tamarind, acai, goji berry..and yes! the dreaded Durian! The list is too large to mention! There are many varieties of teas and juices which I have found during my world travels. Some of my favorites are acai, goji berry, aloe ferox, and durian juices plus rose moqueta, hibiscus, and yerba mate teas. These are all vegan, of course!

The following is a list of some beverages (juices and teas) popular in the mentioned countries:

durian juice – Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, southeast Asia
acai juice – Brazil
goji juice – China, Himalayas
rose moqueta tea – Argentina
yerba mate tea – Argentina, Chile, Uraguay
hibiscus tea – Egypt
aloe ferox juice – South Africa
Mexican hot chocolate – Mexico
sugar cane juice – Costa Rica
seaweed shake – Belize. For this one, check if they have soymilk version.
guanabana shake – Guatemala. Again, ask for soymilk version.
chicha con arroz y piña – Panama. rice and boiled pineapple beverage.
chicha de marañón – Panama. beverage made from fruit of cashew tree.
Chicha Morada juice – Peru. Purple corn with sugar.
sorrel juice – Jamaica
mint tea – Israel
Turkish tea – Turkey
kiwi juice – New Zealand
