Maria’s Advice – Whole Foods Deli for Vegan Travel Needs

Hello Vegan Travelers!
Today I would like to share some exciting news about Whole Foods Market! You may be thinking “What does THAT have to do with vegan travel advice(the main goal of my blog posts)?”! Actually it does indeed affect vegan travelers. When you are traveling across the USA to destinations such as the Grand Canyon or across the globe to Europe, you may find yourself with hunger pangs yet you are no where near any vegan-friendly restaurants. Certain parts of the world and certain US regions simply are not veggie-friendly and may have zero suitable dining establishments for you. In those situations, the vegan traveler may have no other alternative but to seek out supermarkets or health food stores in search of a meal.

Whole Foods is one of the largest and best-known markets for nutritious, healthy, and organic foods. They also carry a huge amount of vegan products for consumption. You can find them from coast to coast all over the United States. In addition, they have several locations in Vancouver, Canada and in London, England. Travelers visiting any of these areas may want to stop by for some vegan prepared foods at the Whole Foods deli. www.wholefoodsmarket.com/stores/all

Just recently the Whole Foods deli in Bedford, Massachusetts started serving a large selection of completely vegan prepared foods. These food items are labeled “Healthy” next to the individual food trays. You may choose 3 of these foods as a vegan blue plate meal for just under $8. Some of these new healthy options are mango curry, southwestern tofu, sweet potato quinoa cakes, stuffed cabbage with rice, vegan tuna, macrobiotic salad, and quite a few other choices. The plate is microwavable so diners can heat it up in the store or bring it with them on a road trip or picnic. I have tried the quinoa cakes, southwestern tofu, and stuffed cabbage. They are absolutely delicious! The portions are a good size for the price. The food tastes fresh. You can even taste the “health” and “nutrition” in every bite!

The deli tells me that other Whole Foods locations may start to serve these “healthy” food items also. While they have always carried a few vegan deli items, the selection is now greater and the items are truely nutritious and carry the label “Healthy”.

The next time you are traveling across the USA, Canada, or the UK and are in need of a market for your next meal, I highly recommend the Whole Foods deli new “Healthy” options.
