Maria’s Advice – Vegan Desserts in Asia

Hello Vegan Travelers!
Who loves dessert? I do! Finding a good vegan dessert during your global journeys can be extremely difficult. Lets face it..Most desserts are prepared with dairy and/or eggs everywhere in the world. Fortunately, that is not the case in southeast Asian countries. There you can find quite a few vegan-friendly desserts!

The following are a few examples:
Mango sticky rice – You can find this sweet dessert in Thailand.

Pumpkin in coconut milk – You can find this dessert in Thailand.

Grass jelly – This treat is made from the mint plant when it is boiled down to a jellylike substance. It may be served with fruit or beans. Served sometimes in a glass over ice. You may find this dessert in China/Vietnam/southeast Asia.

Mochi rice cakes – These small, round, gooey cakes can be made with sesame, red beans, or green tea. You may find this dessert in Japan.

Che – This is a sweet soup made with tapioca, sweet rice, sweet corn, kidney beans, and coconut milk. This dessert may be found in Vietnam.

Bananas in coconut cream – This dessert is popular in Vietnam.

Chilled longan, lychee, and rambutan fruits – Served over ice. This is popular all over southeast Asia.

Red beans with syrup and coconut milk – Served in a glass over ice. This is popular in southeast Asia.

Beans (red and kidney), coconut rice, coconut milk, mango, jellies, green tea, tapioca, and exotic fruit(lychee, rambutan, longan) in various combinations make for mouth-watering, Asian desserts that are suitable for vegans!
