Interview with “Dirty Vegan Foods”

I typically do not write articles about food vendors. However, I met the founders of “Dirty Vegan Foods” at the recent Boston Vegetarian Food Festival and really love their company’s concept! They bake amazing vegan treats which any vegan would be happy to take with them on a road trip, camping trip, or on vacation! The company hails from southern Massachusetts/Rhode Island area.

My other reason for giving a”shout out” to this vegan baker is so that vegan travelers have another example of the variety of vegan products and companies you may find during your domestic or world travels!

“Dirty Vegan Foods” started over a year ago. The founders, Katie and Jay, are animal lovers who did not want vegans to miss out on all the childhood treats from their past. They started baking vegan treats for neighborhood children. Their mission was to recreate childhood favorite snacks, but in a healthier and more animal-friendly version! Offerings include “winkies”(the vegan version of “twinkies”), DVF ( vegan version of Hostess cupcakes), Rodels(Yodels), and many others. They also offer vegan donuts, cakes, and cookies.

I was pleased to meet the owners and hear about their passion to veganize the snack world! I sampled their vegan cupcakes. Simply delicious! For a mere couple of dollars, I got to indulge in the incredibly tasty “winkies” treat! Non-vegans would even be filled with excitement after trying this amazingly authentic taste sensation!

Their sweets can be found at various farmer’s markets, grocery stores, and food festivals across Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and New Hampshire.

So my advice is… Whenever you travel across this vast and amazing world of ours, keep a look out for different types of vegan food companies and products! You will be happy when you locate some unique, vegan finds!
